Production logo

Today we have been creating our production logo, we wanted this to be fun light hearted and different from others we have seen with a homemade quality. We came up with the idea of 'Ginger Nut Productions' and we could use ginger bread men and ice them up to look like each one of us within the group.
We really liked this idea as it was something we had not seen before and we thought this was creative and fun to go with our genre of romantic comedies.

We decided to us ginger nuts and ice them with 'ginger nuts' wrote on them.
So we went out shopping and started creating our production title.

This is the picture that we created and we really liked it. We were happy enough with this to upload this into the computer and to start to edit it with Photoshop were able to more the letters and ginger bread men around to create a more even spaced logo.

Photoshop was really useful as we could use the layers within it to create a full picture.
We individually saved these layers so when we uploaded them onto moviemaker it would be easier to animate our production logo.

Once we had saved all the individual layers we were able to create our opening titles on moviemaker.

We are really happy with our production logo and think it will stand out from the rest it is homemade and original.

Editing Update.

After sifting through all our footage (we got so much of it!) we are finally really getting on with some of the editing and it seems to all be going really well, we are looking at music to go with our final piece and have asked a friend to record some for us which will hopefully work really well with our piece.

Editing Update.

Just a quick update. Editing seems to be going really well we uploaded all the videos from over the weekend.  We are currently just sifting through the videos to get the best shots and scenes so we can use them for our final two minutes we are really pleased with this things we have got currently and we don’t think we have to re-shoot anything which we are all really pleased about.

Filming Update.

Today we will be filming the scenes with Jay and Lucy hopefully after we have shot this all it will be all of the footage we need. We are worried about the weather and it being too windy as all of this shoot is outside I will be doing the audio so hopefully the sound quality is good enough.

Filming Update

It is the second day of shooting today and I will be on my own filming the establishing shots up in the crane. This is because other people aren’t available and the crane is only available for one day. I will hopefully cope well with doing the entire camera on my own as I am unusually not overly confident using it. I will be updating the group on the shots I get and showing it to them as soon as possible.

BBFC.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) is a non-governmental organisation, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification and censorship of films within the United Kingdom. It has a statutory requirement to classify videos, DVDs and some video games.

They award films the following certificates: ( See table below)

Violence

Little to No Violence

Language

Moderate, Mild Language not dwelled upon

Sex/Nudity

Mild References to Sex and Nudity

Themes

Romance, humour, conflict.

Based on the table above we award out film ‘I Can Explain ‘an age rating of 12. We don’t feel that any of the content has bad context or Tone and impact on our Target audience. This rating is quite common in Rom Com films and since the content of our film is very similar to other Rom Com's we decided to use a 12 as our rating also considering all of the above information and the main issues to consider in a BBFC rating.

This age rating does not affect our target audience as they will be allowed to still watch our movie as our Primary target audience will be Females between the ages of 12-35 our secondary Target audience are females over the age of 35 so yet again our secondary target audience will not be affeced by the age Rating.

Editing.

As we did our first bit of filming yesterday we have started our editing process we will all be helping with what we want to make the final cut and have our input on what shots we like but four heads around one computer editing is going to be a lot so the people that enjoy editing can have more of an opportunity to do some (Jess, Vicky, Kim)  whereas the people who don’t really enjoy it as much can do some of the other tasks that are essential within the group. (me)  However we have decided if there are any major changes to the piece of work everyone will gather and we will make the decision together.

Filming Day One

Our first shoot will be taking place today we are hopefully shooting the entire scene with Bridget and Jonathan. Unfortunately I am unviable to be there shooting today, but my group will update me on what happens and events. I will also obviously be looking at the footage they managed to get. So hopefully everything goes well.

Cast and Locations

Planning - Our Cast and location.

This week we have been trying to organise the Cast which will play our characters, and where our key scenes will be filmed.

Four our four key characters, Lucy, Jay, Bridget and Jonathan, we have chosen actors that we feel would reflect the characters and play the parts to their full potential.

Lucy
Jess Codd will be playing Lucy one of the key characters in the film. She is the stereotypical girly, pretty Rom Com female lead. And has the right look for our film opening.
Jess takes drama as an A level and took it as one of her chosen subjects for GCSE which she did very well in. This makes her the perfect female lead for our film as we believe she will feel confident in front of a camera and add good quality acting into the film. We are all confident with the choice of jess for our film opening.

Jay
Gregory Reynolds is our male lead in our film and he will be playing the part of Jay, he plays Lucy's boyfriend. He plays a slightly clumsy, more comical character who clashes with Lucy's dad.
Greg has not done any acting but he enjoyed talking it in school he is confident, witty and funny so we felt he would be perfect to play our male lead. He also has the right looks to appeal to a female audience which is essentially our primary target audience. We all feel he suits this character well.

Bridget.
Tracy Eglon, plays the character of Bridget who is Lucy's mum. She plays the polite, quiet character, who is slightly more in charge of her and Jonathan's relationship than Jonathan is. Bridget as a character is very similar to Tracy which is why we felt she would play the part well. She also has the look we was looking for and is willing to play the part. We are really pleased to have got her to play the part.

Jonathan
Matt Goodman, is playing Jonathan, Lucy's dad. He has the right kind of looks for a dad figure; he plays the role of the arrogant dad who refuses to accept his little girl has got a boyfriend. He is quite a comical character within the film that causes plenty of trouble in the film. We feel he will play the part really well and also is related to Tracy, we feel casting this so she knows who will be her husband in the movie is good as she will feel confident acting with him.

Location.

For the location of Lucy and Jay's scene, we have chosen the village of Tealby, as it is a picturesque, and idyllic village, which we always imagined would be our setting - It also challenges the general stereotype of romantic comedies as mostly these are filmed in famous cities
