Box Office- Romantic Comedies

This Box office recording of Performance for Romantic Comedy's in 2012 show that there is an extremely large target audience, this is obviously a very well established genre and a lot of people are buying tickets to go and see these movies. This also suggests it has a quite mainstream target audience who enjoy the cinema experience of going to the cinema and enjoying a good Romantic Comedy. Also as you can see from the chart these are quite successful money making movies, as they are bringing in a lot of money to the companies that are producing them.

This is taken from a Box Office website and as you can see Romantic Comedy is a well established movie genre which is popular and making a lot of money within the industry. I think this safely justifies why we have chosen to produce a 2 minute film opening from this genre. As well as we all have some interesting ideas, and love the genre ourselves.

I looked at top Romantic Comedies that had made the most total gross and i focused my search on more recent movies these were my results above. This clearly shows that we have a large target audience as all of these movies were shown in cinemas across the country.

Knocked up

The film opened at 2 at the U.S. box office, grossing $30,690,990 in its opening weekend. The film has grossed $148,768,917 domestically and $70,307,601 in foreign territories, totaling $219,076,518.

The film also spent eight weeks in the box office top ten, the longest streak with May–June openers in 2007.

This films plot revolves around a not so successful male lead who sleeps with a well off successful woman on a night out, resulting in a pregnancy in which both parties have to try and work things out in the best way possible for the children.

This is a very comical move as the male lead played by Seth Rogen is extremely funny however there is the romantic side as he is very attracted to the woman he 'knocked up' and is determined to try and do the right thing for her. With some funny action along the way.

Seth Rogen is a really lovable character and makes you have an emotional connection with the film, this has given us the idea to have a quite funny cute male lead within our own two minute film opening for our male lead someone that the audience can connect to.

This clearly shows there is a large audience for Romantic Comedies and this film also shows why we have chosen to do this genre as i really enjoyed this movie.

Just go with It

The film was released in theaters in the United States and Canada on February 11, 2011.

The film topped the weekend box office with $30.5 million. The film grossed a total of $103,028,109 in the United States alone, as well $111,917,482 internationally, bringing a total gross of $214,945,591.

Many of the foreign totals came from Russia, where it grossed $13,174,937.

Danny (Adam Sandler) must engage Katherine (Jennifer Aniston), his faithful assistant, to pretend to be his soon to be ex-wife. Danny must pretend that he is married, because he lied to his dream girl, Palmer (Brooklyn Decker) the most gorgeous woman in the world. To keep the woman he loves, covering up one lie soon turns into many lies.

Jennifer Aniston within this movie is a very innocent female lead and is caught up with her friends lies and ends up pretending to be his soon to be ex wife. However she soon finds herself emotionally attached to him.

Jennifer Aniston is an extremely beautiful female lead and this hopefully is something we want to reflect in our open two minute film opening of having quite an innocent young pretty female lead.

This clearly shows there is a large audience for Romantic Comedies and this film also shows why we have chosen to do this genre as i really enjoyed this movie.

 Crazy,Stupid,Love

Crazy, stupid, love  opened at 5 at the North American box office on its opening weekend with $19.1 million.

It has earned $84.2 million in the United States and Canada as well as $58.5 million internationally for a worldwide total of $142.7 million.

As well as making alot of money the film was also recognized within the award worls as many of the actors were nominated from the movie and some won.

Within this movie we have the aspects of parents which is something i would like to include within our film opening as i think it adds a funny dimension to a piece of comedy as parent after all are quite influential within a persons life. Also this given us the potential to use some quite funny comedy.

This clearly shows there is a large audience for Romantic Comedies and this film also shows why we have chosen to do this genre as i really enjoyed this movie.

Ratings

IMDb a well known movie website have asked their online views to rate some Romantic Comedies and these are the top 3 rated. I have seen love actually and pretty woman and i have to agree these are some of my favorite Romantic comedies. this also clearly shows romantic comedies aren't just a new type of genre and groundhog day was released in 1993 this shows that Romantic Comedies are a well established genre.

Box Office

This Shows in 2004 the highest grossed movie was a romantic comedy which included parents and meeting the family this is something we wanted to include within our own two minute film opening and shows we have a target audience for it.

Also other highest grossed incomes movies include themes of comedy and Romance even though they weren't completely Romantic Comedies this shows that this is a popular.
